At the present time, no fee is required to register an alarm.

Sections 20-38 of the City of Dearborn Heights Code of Ordinances require the registration of all alarm systems. The ordinance specifies:

"Within 14 days of installation of an alarm system, an alarm user shall register the alarm user's alarm system with the City Clerk's office and shall also pay a registration fee, if any, in an amount to be determined from time to time by City Council resolution for each type of alarm control panel in use. If the City Council has not established a registration fee by resolution, then no such fee shall be required.

And:
"Limitations on prosecution for failure to register. For the first six months after this ordinance goes into effect, the City shall not prosecute any alarm user who fails to register the alarm user's alarm system. Further, after the first six months after this ordinance goes into effect, the City shall issue a warning notice/notice of violation before issuing a municipal civil infraction to any alarm user for failing to register an alarm system.

And:
An alarm user shall be responsible for a Class D municipal civil infraction if three or more false alarms are reported to the City within a twelve-month period based on the operation of the alarm user's alarm system at a particular location."
