Traffic Bureau

The Dearborn Heights Police Department Traffic Bureau is responsible for overseeing all traffic safety services and traffic investigations within the City of Dearborn Heights. The Traffic Bureau consists of one sergeant and four police officers whose primary functions include investigating traffic-related complaints, processing all traffic-related arrests, enforcing city ordinances related to motor vehicles, investigating serious injury traffic accidents, providing traffic control for parades and large funerals, and overseeing traffic-related grant programs. The Traffic Bureau also is in charge of overseeing the department's Traffic Safety Program. The primary function of officers working the Traffic Safety Program is to provide high visibility presence and to take aggressive enforcement action in targeted areas of the city where there are traffic complaints and high traffic crash rates.
