NOTICE
LAST DAY FOR YARD WASTE PICK UP IS DECEMBER 15, 2023
During the course of yard maintenance, debris sometimes lands in the street. Allowing this material to stay in the street is a violation of City Ordinance. It also creates obstructions at the catch basins and in the sewers, resulting in enhancing our road flooding problem. This also detracts from the appearance of your neighborhood. Please take the time and effort to remove all debris from the street created by all lawn/yard maintenance projects and leaves that fall from the trees. DEARBORN HEIGHTS DOES NOT ALLOW LEAVES TO BE RAKED OR BLOWN INTO THE STREET. ALL LEAVES MUST BE IN CANS OR LAWN PAPER BAGS FOR YARD WASTE PICK UP.
Yard waste can be placed in lawn paper bags or cans with a capacity of 32 gallons or less. In addition, yard waste cannot be placed into plastic bags, buckets, wooden crates or cardboard boxes. 10 cans or bags of yard waste is the limit for grass clippings, compost, leaves, garden waste, weeds and hay. Maximum weight is 50 pounds. Parcels exceeding the limit of cans, bags or weight will be left behind. Yard waste may not be placed into your wheeled carts. Sod and dirt, is not acceptable yard waste material.
Tree branches, brush, and shrubs must be less than 4 feet in length and 18 inches in diameter, bundled with rope, twine or string, and weigh less that 50 pounds. Limbs cannot exceed the diameter of 2 inches. There is also a limit of 10 bundles per week.
